Military Excellence Comptetitions (MECs) are events where military units can compete against one another in physical activities and military skills. The Penn State Naval ROTC Battalion has a long history of excellence at these competitions, most notably at the Villanova University MEC. Teams compete in events that cover everything from running and swimming to the Marine Reconnaissance Challenge and basic drill. Teams from all over the region attend, including the Naval Academy, University fo Pennsylvania, and the Merchant Marine Academy, creating a high level of competition while fostering camraderie and teamwork amongst future coworkers and shipmates.
Through sweat, grit, and intense effort, Penn State’s NROTC Battalion has maintained a strong record at the competition, emerging as the overall champions in 2011 and 2012.
