About

Captain Charles (Chuck) McCole was born in Levittown, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended recruit training at Marine Corp Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, in June 2005.

Career

He earned the MOS 6123 T-64 Power Plant Mechanic servicing the CH-53. He served with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 29 and Marine Helicopter Squadron One, performing all duties pertaining to engine maintenance, oil analysis, and test cell operations from 2006 to 2010.

Captain McCole re-enlisted in 2010 requesting orders back to MCRD PI, South Carolina. He was assigned to make Marines with Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion. Captain McCole served 22 months as a Drill Instructor aboard MCRD. During this tour Captain McCole was selected for participation in the MECEP program. He attended Officer Candidate School Class 209 in 2012. Upon graduation he reported to The Pennsylvania State University to complete a Bachelor of Science in the study of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. Captain McCole made the transition from Staff Sergeant to Second Lieutenant on 15 May 2015.

He reported for duty to The Basic School in June 2015. Following completion of TBS, Captain McCole was designated with the MOS 7220 Air Traffic Control Officer. He attended the 16-week instruction for ATC aboard NAS Pensacola, Florida. Upon completion, Captain McCole reported to ATC DET C, MACS2, MACG 28, 2D MAW, Cherry Point, North Carolina.

MOS progression then required for him to serve with Headquarter and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Cherry Point, to execute duties as a Crew Officer in the Air Traffic Control Facility. He spent one year leading those Marines and was selected to attend the Marine Air Traffic Controller Mobile Team Instructors (MMTI) Course, MAWTS-1, Yuma, AZ. This attendance set Captain McCole up for his next assignment as the MMT OIC for the 26th MEU beginning in April 2017. Captain McCole, led the MMT through multiple work-up exercises, humanitarian and disaster relief efforts in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, three Joint Exercises (Juniper Cobra, Eager Lion, and Alligator Dagger), and a successful 6 months of underway deployment. From 2019 to 2021 he served as the Detachment Commander, MACS-2, Det-A. Captain McCole employed the Detachment supporting bilateral exercises in Norway, Finland, and in direct support of combat operations in the CENTCOM AOR. Captain McCole is currently serving as the Marine Officer Instructor and Operation Officer for the Pennsylvania State University Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Captain McCole is married to Marcia Lynn McCole and they have a son and daughter, Drake and Paige.

Awards

Captain McCole’s personal awards include the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Presidential Service Badge, Outstanding Military Volunteer Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal (3).

He is also the instructor for NAVSC 313 Fundamentals of Maneuver Warfare
